Training

Our members include many national specialists in ancient trees and their biology and management, which has enabled us to develop and deliver a range of courses over the years.

Forthcoming training courses:

Details of any forthcoming courses will be posted on the events pages

The ATF can also deliver courses on demand for your specific group/organisation. Currently we can offer:

Our one day course ‘Valuing and managing veteran trees’ which is a foundation course targeted at those owning, managing or advising on veteran trees, and anyone who would like to gain an appreciation of why they are important and some management principles.

If you are able to provide a meeting room and identify a suitable site nearby with some veteran trees (farmland and urban trees are often suitable), we will provide a trainer, equipment and training resources.  Courses are aimed at 12-20 delegates and cost around £1265 (that’s £63-£105 per person).  However we can be flexible so please talk to us if you have some ideas.  We may also be able to suggest and book the venue if you prefer.

We can also offer ‘Valuing and managing veteran trees: A three day advanced course for trainers’ which gives delegates all the information and resources for them to deliver the one day foundation course.  This is ideal, for example, for organisations who need to train up groups of advisers or managers so that they gain an appreciation of the importance of veteran trees and some guidance on management.
