Understanding and Managing Veteran Trees – Two-day training course (Burnham Beeches)

This two-day course, developed as part of the VETcert project, is aimed at professionals wanting to continue their learning to improve their knowledge of managing veteran trees.

This course builds on the topics discussed during the introductory 1-day course Valuing and Managing Veteran Trees. It has been designed to assist professionals who are hoping to achieve the VETcert certification, both Practising and Consulting level. However, it can also be treated as a standalone training course.
This two-day course will focus on providing participants with sufficient information and experience to:
- Understand the principles affecting veteran trees that influence their management:
- Ageing and natural processes
- Rooting environment
- Hollowing and fungi
- Location and situation (e.g. historic environment, nature reserve, urban)
- Undertake a survey and take into consideration all relevant factors to produce a management plan for a veteran tree.
- Understand what affects the sustainability of a population of veteran trees and how you can influence it?
A certificate of attendance is provided upon completion of the course.
Who should attend?
Professionals responsible for managing veteran trees, including arboriculturists, foresters, ecologists, land managers, countryside officers.
It is recommended delegates have attended the 1-day course Valuing and Managing Veteran Trees, or similar, training.
£320 per person (non-residential).
