ATF Wales tree recording and planning meeting at Llanerchaeron
Location: Llanerchaeron, Ceredigion, Wales
The ATF Wales group will once again be meeting at a National Trust property this summer, this time to improve their skills in tree recording. There will also be an afternoon meeting to plan the future of ATF Wales.
It’s just over a year since the ATF Wales group was launched at Dinefwr in South Wales in April 2015 (pictured). A second event was held at Chirk in North Wales. This next ATF Wales event is being held in mid-Wales so it’s hoped that people will be able to come from both north and south to take part in training, and support the group leader with taking forward this group.
Llanerchaeron is set in the wooded Aeron valley, and the self-sufficient estate includes a farm, walled gardens and lake.
Tree recording training on the day will be provided by Kylie Knight, from the Woodland Trust. The event will start at 10.30 am with an introductory indoor session on tree recording followed by tree recording practice around the estate. Attendees will need to bring a long tape measure if they have one. There will be a break for lunch at 12.30 til 13.15, then more training in the afternoon.
From 2.30-4.30pm there will be the opportunity for those who are interested, to meet to discuss the future management and event programme for ATF Wales. It should be noted that in order for this group to continue, more people are needed to get involved in helping to run it.
Entrance will be free, but please ensure, if a National Trust member, that you bring your card to have it scanned at the entrance. Attendees are encouraged to have lunch at the cafe, to provide some support to the site. Booking is essential.
Booking for this event is essential. If you would like to attend, let Tracey Lovering know by emailing her at firstname.lastname@example.org. Please also inform Tracey if you plan to eat in the cafe so that the kitchen staff at Llanerchaeron can be advised.
