ATF Thames and Chiltern field visit
Location: Windsor Great Park
A new ATF group for the Thames and Chiltern area plans to run its first event this Autumn at Windsor Great Park.
With a history dating back to William the Conqueror, Windsor was the personal hunting ground of the monarch for centuries. Due to this continuity of land use, Windsor has one of the largest collections of ancient and veteran trees, particularly, oaks, in Europe.
Arrive at 10am for a 10.30 start. The visit is expected to last 4 to 5 hours with a break for lunch. Please bring your own refreshments. No dogs please.
The group plans to organise visits to other sites in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, and to record some of the area’s significant trees to the Ancient Tree Inventory.
Places are limited. For further details of where to meet, and to book a place, contact James Remmington at firstname.lastname@example.org.
