ATF East Anglia visit to Hatfield Forest

Location: Hatfield Forest, Essex CM22 6NE

Hatfield Forest, in Essex, is well known as one of the top sites in the UK for ancient trees, and is unique because it is the best surviving example in the world of an almost complete royal hunting forest.

The National Trust has been looking after the site since the 1920’s, and it is home to over 3,500 species of wildlife.  For the last 20 years, the Trust has been carrying out an extensive and experimental pruning programme to manage the ancient trees.

The 2.5 hour guided walk will be hosted by Henry Bexley, the site manager, with contributions from Reg Harris (one of the contractors who has been carrying out the experimental pruning work), with special guests Ted Green and Jill Butler also attending.

Also included on the tour, will be a visit to a site where a scientific study of the effects of biochar is being undertaken.

Booking is essential – so if you would like to attend please use the booking form below. There are only 50 places!
