Woodland and Tree Archaeology Conference

Location: Sheffield Hallam University

SYBRG (Econet) and partners are organising a 3-day event in September 2019 following on from their Investigating Tree Archaeology, May 2018 conference. This longer conference develops some of the themes identified in May 2018 allowing for more in-depth technical papers and discussions around topics that have only been touched on.

There will be keynote presentations through the conference and sessions that explore specific themes around:

• The Holly and the Thorn – history, ecology, folklore and ethnology: A prickly issue?,
• Tree Archaeology: history, heritage, technology, management and conservation, and
• An Enigma? – Ageing multi-stemmed trees: archaeology, history and scientific analysis

There will be a field visit, panel discussions focused on each of the themes, poster presentations and displays.
