294 trees have been recorded at this deer park, including oak, crab apple, ash and beech. Whiddon Park is a substantial remnant of a large manor house, and the estate was bought by the Drew family of Castle Drogo.  The deer park, which is probably medieval, covers nearly 300 acres,and is at the entrance to the Teign gorge.
