Petworth parkland is an ancient deer park with countless ancient and veteran trees, which underwent dramatic alterations in the 18th century by Capability Brown creating the romantic landscape we see today. Walking through the parkland one can find stunning examples of phoenix or walking trees, old gnarly oaks as well as a wide variety of other ancient tree species.
Discover the views that inspired Turner and other artists at this National Trust site, and enjoy the 726 ancient and veteran trees recorded for this site including oak, small leaf lime and sweet chestnut.

Yes lots of interesting trees in the park and they continue to plant new ones to replace those that go by the hand of nature.
